june, baby!
who is J.E.A.?
Hi! My name is Jenna Avery. I created as a personal passion project to document my experience studying abroad this fall. Think of the site as me handing you the key to my overly nostalgic, introspective, probably excessively analytical diary.
If you'd like to learn more about me,
june, baby
Otherwise, I will leave you with my favorite passage, as Sylvia Plath encapsulates who I am better than I ever could.
I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story.
From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked.
I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree starving to death, just because I couldnβt make up my mind which of the figsI would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.
- The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath
Why June?
The month of June symbolizes warmth, light, optimism, and a fresh start that can only come from changing seasons. Rooted in the legacy of Roman goddess Juno, "June" embodies femininity, beauty, and power: the energy I hope reflects.
